WHY US
What makes the difference when a watch matters
Watch repair is not a commodity service. The person holding the screwdriver, the care taken to document findings, the decision to explain rather than simply proceed — these are the things that determine whether your timepiece leaves in better condition than it arrived.
Back to HomeOUR ADVANTAGES
Six reasons clients choose Wela Atelier
Bench-trained expertise
Mechanical watch servicing carried out by a watchmaker with over eighteen years of hands-on experience across Swiss, Japanese, and European calibres.
Nothing proceeds without consent
A written condition report is shared before any work starts. Clients choose whether to proceed, on their own timeline, with full cost visibility.
Workshop-grade equipment
Ultrasonic cleaning baths, Swiss-made hand tools, timing machines, and calibrated water-resistance testing equipment — the right tools for each job.
Patient, unhurried diagnostics
Every watch is examined under magnification without time pressure. We form a clear picture of the movement's condition before recommending anything.
Period-correct parts sourcing
For vintage and heritage pieces we work with trusted suppliers across Europe and Asia to locate original or period-appropriate components wherever possible.
Clear, ongoing communication
Clients are kept informed at each stage. If anything changes or an unexpected finding arises, we make contact before acting — not after.
Eighteen years at the bench
Our principal watchmaker trained partly under European-trained technicians and has spent the remainder of those years working through a wide variety of movement types — English pocket watches, mid-century Swiss automatics, contemporary ETA and Sellita calibres, and Japanese quartz movements from manufacturers across several decades.
That breadth of experience shapes the way a problem is approached. Familiarity with how different movements age, how their lubricants behave in Bangkok's climate, and how their original specifications translate into practical regulation decisions — these are things that come from time at the bench, not from courses alone.
- Swiss, Japanese, and European movement experience
- Vintage pocket watches through to modern automatics
- Climate-aware servicing tailored to Bangkok conditions
- Specialist knowledge in heritage and collector pieces
- Timing machine verification for all mechanical work
- Multi-stage ultrasonic cleaning bath system
- Witschi or equivalent timing machine for regulation
- Calibrated pressure testing for water resistance
- Swiss-made hand tools for movement work
- Controlled drying environment post-cleaning
The right tools for careful work
Watchmaking tools range from adequate to purpose-built, and the difference shows in the result. An incorrect screwdriver head damages the slot of a screw that has lasted fifty years. A timing machine that has not been calibrated gives false confidence in a regulation that is actually off.
Our workshop is equipped with instruments chosen for accuracy and longevity, not cost. Cleaning, timing, and pressure testing are handled with equipment that produces reliable, consistent results rather than approximate ones.
No pressure, no surprises
Watch repair does not need to feel opaque. A clear explanation of what was found, what is proposed, and what it will cost — given before any work begins — is the baseline of a respectful working relationship. That is how every job at Wela Atelier begins.
Clients are never pressured to proceed immediately, never surprised by a bill that exceeds the agreed amount, and never left without a route to ask questions. If we find something unexpected during the work, we pause and make contact before continuing.

Transparent pricing, clear value
Our service prices reflect the time and skill each job requires — a care visit for a daily quartz watch has a different scope to a full movement overhaul, and is priced accordingly. We do not apply a one-size tariff and charge for things the watch did not need.
The initial assessment and discussion are carried out at no charge. You leave knowing what the watch needs and what it will cost, with no obligation to proceed at that point.

WHAT ONLY WE OFFER
Distinctive aspects of our atelier
The condition report practice
Few Bangkok workshops produce a written condition assessment for every watch regardless of service level. We do this as standard — for a ฿1,500 care visit as much as a ฿9,800 restoration.
Conservative restoration philosophy
We do not polish cases, re-finish dials, or alter anything beyond what is asked. For collectors, the original surface condition is often more valuable than a bright restored one — we understand this.
European and Asian parts network
Our sourcing network spans suppliers in Switzerland, Germany, Japan, and Hong Kong. For discontinued or rare calibres, this reach is often what makes a repair possible at all.
Considered capacity — not volume
We take on a deliberate number of pieces at any time so that each watch receives proper attention. A backlog that means your watch waits three weeks untouched is not how we work.
