How every service begins
Every watch that arrives at Wela Atelier follows the same opening process regardless of the service level. The movement is examined under magnification, findings are documented, and a written condition assessment is prepared. That assessment is shared with the client before any work starts.
This process protects the watch and the client equally. It ensures that work is performed with full information, that costs are agreed in advance, and that nothing happens to your timepiece that you have not been consulted about first. It takes a little longer at the front end — and we believe that time is well spent.
STANDARD PROCESS FOR ALL SERVICES
Initial examination and documentation
The watch is photographed and serial number logged. The movement and case are examined under magnification and findings recorded.
Written condition report shared
A clear summary of what was found and what is proposed — including cost — is shared with the client. No obligation to proceed.
Client consent obtained before work begins
Work proceeds only once the client has confirmed agreement. If further findings arise during the service, we pause and make contact.
Service performed and verified
The agreed work is completed, tested, and verified before the watch is prepared for collection or return.
Collection and follow-up
The watch is returned along with any documentation. Questions after collection are always welcomed — we do not consider the job closed the moment the watch leaves the bench.
SERVICE ONE
Care Visit & Battery Service
A gentle, same-day service designed for everyday quartz watches and daily wearers who would like their timepiece looked after. The service covers a fresh battery, gasket inspection and replacement where needed, strap or bracelet adjustment, and a light external clean of the case and crystal. We explain what we find and only continue once you are comfortable with what is proposed.

Full Movement Service
A thorough service for mechanical and quartz watches that have not been seen in a few years, or any watch where the owner wants the comfort of knowing the movement is in sound condition. The service covers disassembly, cleaning in an ultrasonic bath, lubrication with correct-specification oils, regulation on a timing machine, and a water-resistance check. A clear written summary of the work is shared before any repair begins.

Heritage Restoration
A careful, hand-finished restoration for vintage and treasured mechanical pieces — watches passed down through a family, collector pieces awaiting attention, or timepieces with particular sentimental or historical significance. The service includes a full movement overhaul, dial and case attention where appropriate and requested, and sympathetic sourcing of period-correct parts. Timelines are generous and every step of the process is discussed with you first.

STANDARDS WE FOLLOW
Shared across all service levels
Secure chain of custody
Each watch is logged with serial number and photographs on arrival. Storage is in a padded, locked cabinet. A receipt is issued to every client.
Correct lubricant specification
Watch lubricants are specific to the component — the oil used on a balance pivot is not the same as on a keyless works or an autowinding rotor. We hold the correct grades.
Conservative approach to casework
We do not re-finish cases or dials unless explicitly asked. Original surfaces — even worn ones — are often more valuable than a polished replacement would be.
Client communication at every step
No work proceeds without discussion. If findings change during the service, we contact the client before continuing. Surprises on the bill are not part of how we work.
Magnification for all movement work
All assembly and disassembly is performed under loupe or stereo microscope. Small parts in a watch movement are small by any measure — they deserve correspondingly precise handling.
Full documentation retained
A written record of every service is kept. For heritage restorations this includes photographs of parts and a log of decisions made at each stage of the work.
